A new VisuAL PM Interactive Product Coming

Last year I was experimenting with web technologies to help be develop and idea I had to interactively explore the PM processes. I could not find a technology that would allow me to do what I wanted until recently. Thus, I've begun redevelopment of VisuAL PM Interactive. VisuAL ITIL Products are coming

Recently, I decided to upgrade my ITIL certification from v2 to v3. While in the process, I realized that ITIL students could benefit from a VisuAL experience just as PMP students have benefits from a VisuAL experience. Thus, I have begun developing an interactive and VisuAL study aid for ITIL. Stay tuned.

Scrum Experienced.

I've been applying agile development techniques all of my career. Working on a multi-disciplinary team, where everyone pitches in, using iterative and incremental development just feels natural. At Magardi, we would release a new production quality build once a month. At Cognos, we applied other elements of agile techniques like product backlogs and sprints (though we didn't call them that). So [...]

Letter from a client

Last week I received the following letter from a client. I thought I would share it with you. I would like to make the very highest recommendation for Projerra's VisuAL PM Knowledge Area Charts. For a Project Manager who thinks graphically, I consider these an essential tool on your personal project management toolkit. Not just for passing the test, but for [...]

Storming, Norming, and Reforming with Existing Teams

Recently I was speaking with the leader of an organization. He was concerned about his team. The team had experienced significant growth over the past 6 months (from 2 to 6 employees) and he was concerned that some of the team members were not as independent as he was hoping they would be. My first question to him was how much [...]

The Importance of Coaching

In the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey popularized the idea of the four quadrants of time management. Steven Covey advises us that we should stay in the quadrants that deal with important matters and that we find a balance between managing those items that are important/urgent and important/non-urgent. Unfortunately, I’ve seen many project managers slip into the belief [...]

Web 2.0 and Project Management

About a month ago I attended a PMI OVOC luncheon on Web 2.0 and Project Management. The seminar was quite enlightening. The speaker talked about the use of blogs and wikis for project/teams communications. He also mentioned web based project management tools to facilitate communication and status reporting about the schedule. I came away from the lunch feeling energized about the [...]

Using Group Tweet for Project Management

OK - so I've jumped on the bandwagon. A few weeks ago, I created a Twitter account and I've been sending and receiving tweets from friends, colleagues and groups every since. I've become fascinated by the real time nature of the communication, and thinking that this applications would be great in a group/project setting. There are many times when I'm in [...]
